Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe
Author and campaigner
Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is a British-Iranian charity worker and campaigner who was arbitrarily detained in Iran in 2016, where she spent six years in prison, including periods in solitary confinement and under house arrest. During her imprisonment, she turned to creative practices such as sewing and craft to cope with isolation and maintain a sense of connection to her life beyond prison. Since her release in 2022, she has become an advocate for those unjustly detained abroad, speaking publicly about her experience and the wider human impact of state detention and diplomacy.
