Helen Fielding is a British novelist, screenwriter and journalist, best known as the creator of Bridget Jones. The character began life in an anonymous column for The Independent before inspiring four bestselling novels and a hugely successful series of films. Fielding previously worked at the BBC and as a journalist in East Africa, experiences that informed her first novel, Cause Celeb. Her books have been translated into more than 40 languages. In 2024, The New York Times named Bridget Jones’s Diary one of the 22 funniest novels since Catch-22.
